Prague, 7 April 2014 — Educational activities related to the Internet, support for implementation of the new Internet Protocol IPv6 or activities in the field of open source software — these are the main reasons why CZ.NIC won this year’s Czech At Prize (Český zavináč). Its granting is decided by a jury of professionals at the traditional conference Internet in public administration and local governments (ISSS), whose 17th year started yesterday in Hradec Kralové. The aim of the award is to draw attention to organizations and projects that have contributed significantly to the development of the use of information technology in public administration institutions.

“We greatly appreciate this important and prestigious award. For our association, the Czech At Prize represents a reward for our long-term efforts in building the Internet infrastructure in the Czech Republic and the promotion of public administration,” says Martin Peterka, COO of the CZ.NIC association.

This is not the first award for CZ.NIC for activities related to the support of modern communication technologies in public administration. At the end of last year, the mobile applications Datovka and iDatovka facilitating communication with data boxes, developed by the association, won the prize for the best nationwide e-government project for the year 2013.

The personalities and projects that won the Czech At Prize in previous years include former Justice Minister Otakar Motejl for providing access to the commercial register on the Internet, Czech Office for Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre for providing access to the land register, or the organizers of the Golden Crest Award evaluating websites of towns and villages.
